Connecting the businesses of the Mediterranean to the world

Our Strategy

To lead luxury travel and luxury real estate across the Mediterranean, in twelve languages, on twelve sites, for the long term, and for good.

The ambition

A Digital Gateway the Mediterranean has never had…

Today there is no digital gateway that brings luxury travel and luxury real estate together for the Mediterranean region as a whole. TheMediterranean.com is built to be that gateway: one distinguished address where the world comes to discover the Mediterranean, to stay, to sail, to dine and, for many, to make a home there.

Our goal is simple to state and long in the making: to be the number one digital luxury gateway to the Mediterranean, in the languages of the people who travel to it and invest in it.

It rests on the sea’s own name, in its exact form, on .com, and on the same name in eleven other languages. No one else can hold them, and they are held together, for the long term.

The strategy

To lead the Mediterranean, in every language that travels to it

Luxury travellers and investors search in their own language. We intend to be the first address they find, in each one.

I

The name of the sea, twelve times

Each of our domains is the name of the Mediterranean itself, in its own language: the address a traveller in Paris, Riyadh, Shanghai, Moscow, Munich, Athens or São Paulo would expect it to be. All twelve are held together, by one owner, for the long term.

II

One gateway, twelve times over

Every guide, every hotel, every Territory, every Journal piece and every partner page exists in all twelve editions. What is written once in English is read across the world in its readers’ own words.

III

First in search, in every market

Each edition is written in the phrases people actually search in its language, on a domain that is that language’s own name for the sea and the world-famous region. As each edition deepens week after week, it is built to rise to the first place for the Mediterranean in its language.

IV

No room for a rival

A competitor would need the name of the Mediterranean in twelve languages to stand where we stand. Those names are already held, together, and will stay that way.

V

Every buyer, every market

The traveller-investor, the buyer who never boards a plane, and the institution buying at scale come from every continent. Twelve languages bring them to the Mediterranean’s finest firms, in the language they think in.

VI

The gateway of record

Our aim, over the years ahead, is for TheMediterranean.com and its editions to be the gateway of record for luxury travel and luxury real estate in the Mediterranean: the first name, and the obvious one, in every language.

Twelve sites, twelve languages

The Mediterranean, in the world’s own words

TheMediterranean.com is the English edition. Each language edition opens on its own domain, a complete edition of the site in its language, kept in step with the English site as it grows.

For our partners

One place, twelve sites

Connecting the businesses of the Mediterranean to the world, for the long term, in twelve languages, on twelve websites, not one. The Mediterranean has always drawn the world to its shores. Our work is to connect the hotels, resorts, yachts, estates and developments that make it so with the travellers and buyers who come to them from every continent, one language at a time.

With tourism comes property. Many people who visit the Mediterranean come to see its art, culture and charm, and some decide to retire here. TheMediterranean.com is where they first find the places worth knowing, before they ever arrive.

Global luxury operators sell the Mediterranean as one destination among many. TheMediterranean.com is a luxury gateway built for the Mediterranean alone: region by region, in the language of each market, on twelve websites, for the long term.

The Western Hemisphere. English reaches North America, from the United States and Canada to the Caribbean, and Spanish reaches Latin America from Mexico to Patagonia. Portuguese carries the Mediterranean to Brazil, the largest market in South America, and French to Canada’s French-speaking provinces. Together they put the name of the sea and its world-famous region in the languages of the whole Western Hemisphere, and the Chinese edition opens the road from China.

A Founding Partner or Premier Resort does not advertise on one website. Its page appears on TheMediterranean.com and on every language edition as it opens, in that language, for the same single fee. A buyer reading in Arabic, Chinese, German or Russian finds the same firm, in their own language, with the same direct call, WhatsApp, email and website buttons.

Because every edition grows with the English site, a place taken today gains new readers, in new languages, year after year, without any extra work by the partner.

Our principles

What will not change

I

First class only

Five-star hotels, MICHELIN tables, the great yachts and trains, and the finest homes. When in doubt, it is left out. A place on our editorial lists cannot be bought.

II

Content that compounds

New pieces in The Journal every week, each kept for good, and every guide checked and dated. Year by year the gateway grows deeper, and easier to find.

III

Directly to you

Buyers and guests reach our partners directly, by telephone, WhatsApp, email and their own website. We never stand in between, and we take no commission.

IV

Reinvested in the gateway

A portion of our advertising revenue is returned to TheMediterranean.com, to refine it, enrich it and carry it further each year, to the benefit of every partner and of the region’s economy.

V

Every season

The coast and the islands from spring to autumn; the cities, and Beyond the Mediterranean into the Alps, in winter. The gateway has something to offer every month of the year.

VI

In it for good

Not six months, not sixty years: for good. Every decision, from our standard to our Terms, is made for the long view, and the gateway is never finished.

The road ahead

Where we are going

  1. Year 1

The new TheMediterranean.com opens, and with it Year 1 of the Founding Partner programme, across 59 Territories.

  2. Years 1 to 3

Founding Partners are made only in these three years. The language editions open one by one, each carrying every partner’s page.

  3. Summer 2027

We travel the Mediterranean to visit the finest hotels, resorts and restaurants for our Showcase, reviewed, photographed and written by us.

  4. Year 4 onwards

Founding Partners keep their title and their place for as long as they renew. Places that open go to partners without the Golden Badge.

  5. Every week

New pieces in The Journal, and four Season Letters a year, for good.

The Mediterranean Season Letter

Where to be, every season

Four letters a year, one for each season: the Mediterranean from spring to autumn, and Beyond the Mediterranean, into the Alps, in winter. The one best hotel to book, and the events worth crossing a sea for.
