A Knight's palazzo becomes a hotel in Valletta

Published

In the heart of Valletta, a palazzo built in the 16th century for Mathurin Romègas, one of the most celebrated Knights of Malta, has become a hotel of 23 rooms and suites. Romègas Hotel opened in 2026 after a long restoration, and is part of the L.V.X. Collection, the highest of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts collections.

Each room is designed by Camilleri Paris Mode around the history of the city, and on the roof a pool looks out over Valletta, the bay and Manoel Island. The restaurant is led by the Maltese chef Marvin Gauci, and there is a bar in the old courtyard.

Among the best hotels in Malta, and a luxury boutique hotel within a short walk of St John's Co-Cathedral and the Grand Harbour, it is the newest address of note in Valletta.
