The Danieli reopens as a Four Seasons

Published

The most famous palace hotel in Venice has reopened. Since the summer of 2026 the Danieli, on the Riva degli Schiavoni a few steps from St Mark's Square, has been a Four Seasons hotel, after the designer Pierre-Yves Rochon restored Palazzo Dandolo and Palazzo Casa Nuova in the soft colours of the lagoon.

Palazzo Dandolo was built at the end of the fourteenth century for the Dandolo family, one of the great houses of the Venetian Republic, and its Gothic façade has looked across the water to San Giorgio Maggiore ever since. The hotel opens with 120 rooms and suites, and will have 168 once its third palazzo, the Danieli Excelsior, is restored in 2027.

On the roof, the Terrazza Danieli serves lunch and dinner above the lagoon, with many dishes finished at the table, and the Danieli Spa opens in late 2026. Among the best hotels in Venice, and the five-star hotels of Italy, there is no grander address on the lagoon.
